Finding a Module on CPAN

From PerlNet

Jump to: navigation, search

As CPAN has grown, it has accumulated a lot of modules. When searching for a module to fulfill a certain task (or to be used in the future), most of the modules will be irrelevant. Many of the relevant modules will be either of low quality (due to some inadequate rating in a parameter of general CPAN modules' quality) or not of the author's taste. On Internet forums, it is not uncommon to see people looking for a recommendation for a CPAN module to do something.

The purpose of this section is to discuss what is the best strategy to:

  1. Find a CPAN module with/without consulting people.
  2. Facilitate searching for a CPAN module in the future.
