Linux.conf.au 2006
From PerlNet
Linux.conf.au is an annual conference to discuss Linux and Linux-related topics. The main website can be found at www.linux.conf.au.
Since Perl works really well on Linux, there are usually some very interesting Perl related talks at Linux.conf.au. For instance, this year (2006), the ever popular Dr Damian Conway will be giving a Seminar on Perl 6 entitled "Introduction to Perl 6". He is also delivering a keynote entitled "Sex *and* Violence: Technical and Social Lessons from the Perl 6 Development Process" which will be interesting for perl developers and open source developers in general.
In addition to these talks, other talks that show how to acheive a certain objective, will involve the use of Perl. For instance, "FAI — the Fully Automatic Installation" by Thomas Lange will talk about automating the installation of Debian GNU/Linux onto a bunch of machines using scripts, some of which are written in Perl.
Birds of a Feather
A Perl BOF session was held at the at the conference, on the Friday evening between the end of the main presentations and the conference dinner.
