Just another aspiring Perl hacker. I enjoy programming in Perl and Python above all other languages, although I also have a soft spot for Haskell.

At the moment my favourite kind of programming generally involves either network applications (with POE/Perl or Twisted/Python) or programs that take advantage of cute hacks and a number of different programming techniques. I also find myself using Perl for text parsing/processing when awk is missing a function of feature that I need.

At the moment my favourite Perl book is Computer Science and Perl Programming. It probably has something to do with it being the first technical book I ever bought (sentimental value), but it probably also has something to do with the fact that it tought me many many things that have made me a better programmer. Although, from what I hear about Higher Order Perl, that could top the list when I eventually get around to buying it. Another favourite book is Twisted Network Programming Essentials, but this is a Perl site, so I'll keep away from that here ;)

I am a university student, studying Software Engineering at Swinburne University in Hawthorn.

Although I am a new Melbourne Perl Monger member, I am still yet to make it to a meeting because I play basketball on Wednesday nights. Well, I play basketball quite a few times during the week, so that takes up many nights :/

Oh, and you can usually find me in #perlnet under the nickname triple_
